Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) (also referred to in America as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM)) is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. The campaign also offers information and support to those affected by breast cancer. As well as providing a platform for breast cancer charities to raise awareness of their work and of the disease, BCAM is also a prime opportunity to remind women to be breast aware for earlier detection. This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the NBCAM providing awareness, education and empowerment!

Breast Cancer is a disease that affects both men and women, so take this opportunity to educate yourself about risks, early detection, and signs and symptoms. Make an appointment with your physician and or health care provider to get a mammography…get checked out!

Also, although this campaign is about Breast Cancer there are other forms of cancer; prostate, lung, skin, etc., so be proactive in taking care of yourself; remember knowledge is power.
